SHOULD YOU WATCH IT?
Well, I don’t know. Should you? Heh.
I actually have a very valid reason why you should watch it but I’m afraid that’s not the reason you want to hear. Instead, I’ll save that for the very last part of this post so you won’t be swayed by my overly biased judgment.
I’m not exactly impressed by the whole movie. There are four stories, but I don’t think they managed to weave the four stories into one cohesive plot. It would have been better if we see more interaction from the characters but each couple is secluded in their own plot. The only distinct similarity from the four stories is that they all end up attending the Blue Mountain Festival. It could have been much better if we saw little interactions between different couples. I don’t know. Maybe I expected too much?
The premise is really good. I am actually a fan of movies with multiple storylines where the characters unknowingly interact with each other. Maybe if I didn’t expect something like that from this movie, I would have enjoyed it more.
I almost stopped watching this movie because of the first story. I wouldn’t even call it a love story. It’s more like a lust story and it made me uncomfortable. (Heh.) I learned that the actress who played Fon, Apinya, is only 21. It bothered me how she acts so provocative in the movie. But I continued watching with the hopes that the other stories wouldn’t be so ridiculous. Fon and Boat’s story didn’t really make much of an impact.
Thankfully, it gets better. The second story is about Pla and Bright who fell in love but had to separate since Bright went overseas (I think). They struggle with the long distance relationship, and it makes me sad to see Pla moping around half of her screentime. She kicks ass, though, so I forgive her. I probably would have done the same!

The third story is definitely my favorite. Hatai schemes to make his boyfriend, Yo, jealous, just to see if he truly cares for her. The actress who played Hatai is adorable! (And I think she’s really pretty.) She fits the role of the pretty but insecure girlfriend and portrays it quite well. The conflict arises slowly but you can predict when the problem will blow over Hatai’s face. It’s a quirky story, something light to juxtapose the two previous ones. It’s the only one that has a pretty clear ending. I’m not big fan of open endings so that’s enough reason for me to like this story best.
Yok and Eua are best friends who become lovers. Yok (Jirayu Laongmanee) is also the reason why I watched this movie. (SPOILER ALERT) This could have been the best story because of the insatiably cute start of the romance between the two. But I just hate fickle-minded protagonist and Eua pretty much sums up everything I do not like in a female protagonist. She’s the first one to confess but also the first one to (really quickly) get tired of the relationship. When she admits that the first day they become the couple is the happiest day she had been in the relationship, I wanted to tear her apart. Yok heart-breakingly replies that everyday with Eua is the happiest for him. My heart weeps a little for him. ARGH. I just really don’t get Eua’s behavior. NOT AT ALL. When the two decides to stay as friends after the break-up, I wanted to smash my laptop on the wall. I just can’t fathom how lovers can turn into friends, just friends. Yok obviously still has feelings for Eua so I think he’s in the losing end. Poor Kao. :(
With all these said, I must say that I got highly emotional in some scenes. Heh. It’s definitely not the best Thai RomCom I’ve watched but it’s good enough for me. The third and fourth stories are definitely a must-watch. Yes, even the fourth story, just ignore my fangirl rant.
What Love Julinsee lacks in cohesiveness, it makes up for such a vibrant cinematography. It’s so youthful! It’s about teens falling in and out of love, and the tone makes the movie seem as light-hearted as possible. There’s just something about colorful movies that make me love them much more than I should. I could probably re-watch this movie just for the tones and colors. That’s how much I like it.
So go ahead and watch it. The adorable characters are enough to make up for the not-so-adorable ones. I know, I’m such a horrible person for saying that.
EXTRA FANGIRL RANT
Kao, get away from me. You’re only sixteen. You’re breaking my noona heart.
To illustrate how addicted I am right now: When Yok  is about to kiss Eua, I covered the screen with my hands because I didn’t want to see it. LULZ. Let’s just say my sister who was watching with me was irritated.
So yes, I watched this movie because I learned that Jirayu “Kao” Laongmanee is in this movie. ARRRRRGGHHHHHH. How can he be so adorable? This movie proves his versatility as an actor, and suddenly I just have to watch his other movies. I should seriously get a break from obsessing over him but how could I do that if he’s such a good actor? He’s so young but he’s already so flexible. His character Yok is a hundred times different from his character in SuckSeed, Ped. It’s good to see him play different roles, and I have yet to be disappointed.
No photo of Kao for you because my blog is already crawling with so much SuckSeed and Kao. But I don’t think “too much Kao” is possible. I’m also calling him by his nickname now, showing how comfortable obsessed I am with him already. KTNXBYE.
